O’s Notes: The many voices of Coltrane include warm, romantic ballads though this isn’t what we typically remember him for. These ballads were recorded during 1957-58 on Prestige Records. John plays nine tracks in quartets and quintets including Red Garland (p), Paul Chambers (b), Jimmy Cobb (d) and Donald Byrd (t). They play with a lot of passion.
