O’s Notes: This was the first compilation of ballads issued by Prestige in 1965. It established a trend that continues today. The musicians here include John Coltrane (sax), Red Garland (p), Paul Chambers (b), Philly Joe Jones (d) and Miles (t). They play the relaxing selections from Miles’ albums recorded in the 1950s. Among the highlights are “My Funny Valentine”, “Nature Boy” and “‘Round Midnight”. It is a warm and cozy mood-maker!
