O’s Notes: Puerto Rican guitarist, composer, educator and producer Rafael Rosa gives us taste of mellow Latin jazz-fusion on Portrait, his latest release. Co-producer John Benitez (b) welcomes the young virtuoso onto the New York jazz scene. Seven of the nine songs are fresh Rosa originals. He uses several guests artists notably Kenny Werner (p) on “Looking For” to accentuate a good effort.
