O’s Notes: The BRE is a fine big band that explores a wide variety of approaches allowing many band members to shine. The general tone of the music is dark with violet tones. We heard rich vocals from Tulivu-Donna Cumberbatch, great work on piano from John Nam and William Ware III on vibes along with powerful brass. This is a good performance from Brooklyn natives spreading the word of jazz.
