O’s Notes: Guitarist/composer Dave Stryker returns to his trusty trio with Jared Gold on the B3 and drummer McClenty Hunter for Prime. It was inspired by a recording during the pandemic for streaming. This one captures a lot of spontaneous energy, a live recording of new music, all on the first takes! We feel the fire right out the gate on the title track. They simmer afterwards with Gold leading the charge until Stryker injects a liquid bluesy lead on “As We Were”. We also enjoyed “Mac”, “Deep” and “Dude’s Lounge”.
