O’s Notes: Prog is different, an instrumental session with a lot of energy. The Bad Plus consists of bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Ethan Iverson and David King on drums. Each of them contributes originals to the session and they also include transformational arrangements of “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”, “Life On Mars” and a few other covers. Among the best are Anderson’s “Giant”, King’s “Thriftstore Jewelry” featuring the drummer, and “This Guy’s In Love With You.
