O’s Notes: We listened first and then were rather taken back when we realized the photo on the CD cover was a current photo of Matt. He’s a child prodigy at 14 years old but already well established with numerous achievements and this being his 3rd jazz album. The music suggests a pianist with far more years of experience. Savage swings along from track to track gliding through the notes with a sound that reminds us of Monk in some respects particularly on “Lullaby of Birdland”. Matt also adds a many of his own compositions of which we preferred “Dreaming of You”.
