O’s Notes: Keyboardist Larry Goldings leads a quartet with John Sneider (t, cornet), Ben Allison (b) and Matt Wilson (d, perc). They take us on a journey from the free jazz elements of “Singsong” and “Jackie-ing” to the swinging “Au Bord De L’eau” and a strong vocal arrangement of “Hesitation Blues” featuring Madeline Peyroux. There are also beautiful songs like “Cocoon” featuring Sneider’s work on cornet and the inspirational “We Shall Overcome”. It is tough to classify this as one collective genre but we can say that Larry has put together a good collection!
