O’s Notes: The CD cover and insert have rather eclectic artwork that suggests at least a different musical approach. That is exactly what we get, courtesy of saxophonist Matthew Silberman and his quintet. Ryan Ferreira and Greg Ruggiero play guitar with bassist Chris Tordini and drummer Tommy Crane. The mild funky beats are at times abstract but with enough structure to hold your attention. We applaud Matthew for this creative debut stretching the boundaries of jazz.
