O’s Notes: The trio is Thomson Kneeland (b), Brooke Sofferman (d) and Chanier on piano. The program contains ten new compositions written by Jacques. Quilt is truly a mosaic of music. The use of digital sampling gives songs like “Infamous Balloon Man” a hip-hop effect. “Endless” is a reflective ballad but the session is highlighted by neobop songs like “March Mellow”. Each of the musicians gets a chance to stretch out and display their talents during the set. Our favorite track is “Y Note” with Chanier taking the lead on top of a spirited foundation. There’s sure to be something that will please your palate.
