O’s Notes: This is a swinging quartet with Uri Caine (p), Ugonna Okegwo (b) and either Greg Hutchinson or Rudy Royston on drums. Quiz is leader Andrew McCabe’s second recording as a leader and it is noteworthy. Five of the seven tracks are originals with spirited tunes like the title track and “St. Pat” making this one cook. “Good Morning Heartache” is a warm extended (12 minute) endeavor that includes well-developed solos particularly by McCabe. It is a balanced session that invites the audience into their zone.
