O’s Notes: Ragabop Trio is drummer Steve Smith, George Brooks on sax and guitarist Prasanna. The absence of a bassist puts the responsibility of the lower register in the hands of Smith who is up to the task. They play jazz-fusion with an Indian bent courtesy of Prasanna who wrote four of the nine tracks. Brooks composed three songs and the remaining two are collaborations by the trio. We enjoyed the coordinated lead lines on “Love and Hunger” and the cool beats of “The Geometry of Rap” with vocals from Smith.
