O’s Notes: Drummer Jack Mouse leads a cool quintet that includes Scott Robinson (sax, fl), Art Davis (t) and John McLean (g). Jack wrote and arranged all of the songs except “Loose Weave” and “LaPorta” where he got help from Robinson and McLean respectively. The tempo is typically upbeat except on the soothing “Winterset”. We liked the bluesy “Hip Check” and the swinging “Manne-rism” best but Mouse keeps the energy flowing start to finish.
