O’s Notes: This is a 2-CD set from ECM’s :rarum series featuring Jan’s best picks from 1974 to 1995 The bulk of the tunes on the first CD have a dark melancholy mood save the cool country swing of “Viddene”. Our favorites are the mild funk of “Lillekort” and the exotic sounds of “Red Wind”. The second CD is more pleasing overall with adventurous songs like “Oceanus” and generally more pleasant moods.
