O’s Notes: Settle in to your comfortable chair, grab a scotch and get ready for some warm baritone vocals. Generet delivers eight ballads, putting feeling into the words so that we understand the message. He also does it with very melodic tones, always in tune and pleasurable so. The rhythm section is rock solid with producer Onaje Allan Gumbs (p), Marcus McLaurine (b) and Payton Crossley (d). Mark Gross adds sax on a few tunes notably “Moon Dance” and “Stolen Moments” which also features solos from Eddie Allen (t) and Roger Byam (ts). Onaje’s arrangement of “Rio de Janeiro Blues” is unique and a cool change of pace in this set. We enjoyed listening to this session.
