O’s Notes: Greg Hopkins plays trumpet and leads a band that started as a quintet then added pianist Tim Ray to arrive at the present configuration. The other original members are Bill Pierce (sax), Mick Goodrick (g), Dave Zinno (b) and Gary Chaffee (d). The New England based band has many years of performances together that leaves them with a sense of comfort and freedom playing together. They stretch out with confidence performing Hopkins’ originals. On note are “The Lost Bagatelles Part II”, “Tigress”, the mellow “First Impressions” and the swinging “Affogato”.
