O’s Notes: A relaxed fusion with nice dynamics and layering of instruments. The interaction between bass, drums and bongos like on “No Go Die”, provides an outstanding backdrop for Barney’s piano with leads from Kurt Rosenwinkel on guitar and Gary Bartz on sax. It swings nicely, especially on “Obatala” with subtle Latin undertones.
