O’s Notes: Remembering Blakey is a tribute to the legendary drummer and bandleader Art Blakey. But Ron Aprea plays sax. His approach to the dedication is in groove and style and he nails it! Aprea’s band plays old school bebop that swings. The soloists all get sufficient airtime, as did Blakey’s Messengers and the all effectively state their case. Ron is on point with his arrangements and the overall performance. We remember and we enjoyed this set, all the way through.
