Warner, 2004, CD
Instrument: Female Vocals
Jazz Ruler Type: Ballads, Blues
O’s Notes: Rarely does a young jazz singer surface with such emotional power and expression! You will enjoy her signature right from the opening track, a racy arrangement of “Summertime”. She takes a romantic approach on “Is You Is Or You Ain’t My Baby” swinging along with the band. There’s a sweet duet with Peter Cincotti on “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do”, some cool harmonizing with Carol Weisman and occasional Aaron Neville-type tremors. Olstead comes to the party with a polished act that promises to keep her in the spotlight for a while.
