O’s Notes: Trio Mundo is guitarist Dave Stryker, Andy McKee (b) and drummer/percussionist/vocalist Manolo Badrena. Guest artist Steve Slagle adds melodies on sax and flute. The project focuses on the musical spirits of Badrena. It’s a Latin fusion that has hints of Weather Report. We saw the Trio live in NJ a couple of weeks after they recorded this album. They are a tight unit that isn’t afraid to step outside of boundaries, especially Manolo. We liked what we heard then and this CD furthers our enjoyment.
