O’s Notes: Lauren sings in front of an excellent rhythm section with drummer Tim Horner, pianist Allan Farnham and Rufus Reid on bass. They play a mixture of jazz classics and Lauren’s originals. Her tones are blue matching the moods of “Goodbye Pork Pie” and “No Goodbyes”. Hooker sings from her heart on “The Other Side Of The Sun”. Her vocal arrangement of “Well You Needn’t” and the gentle samba of “Time and Space” work well. We get a few snapshots of her romantic life on this release, a story of sorts. It’s a good debut.
