O’s Notes: Najee was one of the premier contemporary jazz sax men two decades ago. We’re happy to report that he is back on the scene. This is his second recording on HeadsUp. Chris ‘Big Dog’ Davis plays a big role writing and producing some of the tunes. Phil Perry adds vocals on “Romance the Nite” to change up the pace a bit. Najee retains his characteristic sound on “Come What May” while stepping into the new millennium. The relaxing “Brazilian Affair” is our favorite track in a solid lineup.
