O’s Notes: Chris is a blues singer who tells stories, passionate stories. The band behind him is strong including guitarist Norman Beaker, Damian Hand on sax and John Price anchoring the beats on bass. These guys play seamlessly and the solos all carry the spirit of Chris’s lyrics. They open with “Blues As Blues Can Get” which establishes the mood and fires up the crowd for this live session. There’s a rock and roll element to Farlowe’s “I Don’t Want To Sing The Blues No More” but this is pure blues. The more we listened, the more we liked. Chris didn’t grow up in Memphis, but he can sing the blues. The energy made us feel like we were there.
