O’s Notes: We’ve always enjoyed Jackie’s voice, delicate and sweet on sensitive ballads and slightly gruff on the blues. It works perfectly with the songs of Hans Sturm, the subject of“Rose Fingered Dawn. Professor Sturm is a well-accomplished bassist who composed the music and produced this session for Allen specifically. Other supporting musicians include pianist Tom Larson, drummer Dane Richeson and Geof Bradfield on sax. These ballads are easily embraceable over repeated listening.
