O’s Notes: Drummer Andrew Cyrille leads a band with Hamiet Bluiett (sax), Alix Pascal (g), Lisle Atkinson (b) and Frisnee Augustin (perc, vocals). They mix calypso beats from Haiti with the free flowing squawks and barks from Bluiet’s baritone. Cyrille wrote the bulk of the material. At times there is fury and occasionally the mood is festive. We preferred the latter as on “Deblozay”, “Mais” and “Spirit Music”.
