O’s Notes: This is three CDs with 55 classic blues tunes performed by John Lee Hooker, Albinia Jones, Joe Turner, Helen Humes, Memphis Slim and many others between 1944 and 1994 on Savoy. Songs like “Lips Blues” by Hot Lips Page have great stories complemented by great instrumental solos. Hot Lips sang and played the trumpet rivaling Louie Armstrong during that period. This is one example of many great songs. The original masters have been transferred using 24-bit digital technology to optimize the audio quality.
