O’s Notes: Vocalist Satya sings and scats in harmony with the band a strong unit led by producer/guitarist Scott Anderson. Bassist Matt Geraghty makes his presence known opening “O Ponto” and anchoring the beats throughout the session. Helios Alves (p), Adriano Santos (d, perc, spoken word) and Doug Brush (perc) are the rest of the core unit. The groove is funky with Murray’s jazzy improvisation and Brazilian rhythms. It works very well. We really liked the interaction of Satya’s voice with Bryan Murray (sax) on the opener “Ponteio”. She wrote all or part of seven of the nine selections. Take the time to listen, there is a lot to enjoy here for Latin, vocal, traditional and contemporary audiences!
