O’s Notes: Kemba takes us on a ride through the history of African American music. She expresses her gospel roots with “I Want Jesus To Walk With Me” which starts in the church and evolves into a swinging blues groove. She cuts loose with blues on “Mangy Joe” and bebop with “Night in Tunisia” before singing a swinging ballad, “Check To Cheek”. There are also really cool arrangements of “How High The Moon” and the R&B hit “What You Won’t Do”. She sparkles all the way through encouraging us to feel the emotion with her.
