O’s Notes: The mood runs run mysterious to racing fusion in Paul’s Shapeshifter. He leads the quartet with melodies on sax, clarinet, English horn and oboe. The rest of the band is Art Lande (p), Peter Barshay (b) and Alan Hall (d). We particularly liked the opener, “Majestorum Enborum” and “Petroglyph”. Lande wrote most of the 11 songs. These are welcomed fresh sounds on the contemporary side.
