O’s Notes: London based jazz vocalist Ian Shaw presents his fifteenth CD as a leader, a dedication to influential women in his life including some originals. Shaw sings with a laid-back cool swagger that reminded us of the late Mark Murphy. He gets support from his working band including pianist Barry Green, bassist Mick Hutton and drummer/percussionist Dave Ohm. The songs span the full gamut from romantic sorrow to political discourse with a mix of jazz, pop and soul. He’s got something for everyone here on“Shine Sister Shine, an album that should garner radio play across several genres.
