O’s Notes: Saxman David Bixler leads a quintet that includes guitarist John Hart and Scott Wondholt on trumpet. They swing through seven new compositions all written by Bixler. The music is modern jazz that extends into cool fusion on songs like “Mentiras” and the funky “Quack”. There are also relaxing numbers like “Longing” which surfaces David’s rich tones on alto sax. A nice effort as a leader.
