O’s Notes: Saxophonist Jeff Coffin reconfigures The Mu’tet with returning members Bill Fanning (t) and Felix Pastorius (b) and the addition of Chris Walters (keyboards) and Roy “Futureman” Wooten (d). Jeff produced the set and shares compositional responsibilities with the band on ten original jazz-fusion pieces. The collaboration leads to varied characteristics on Side Up. We liked the funky groove on “Low Hanging Fruit”, the New Orleans swing on “Steppin’ Up” and the mysterious “Mogador”
