O’s Notes: There is a lot of great jazz in North Carolina, now coming from Professor Rahsaan Barber at UNC. He teams up with his twin brother Roland Barber (tb), Pharez Whitted (t), Matt Endahl (p), Kevin Beardsley (b), and Joshua Hunt (d) for Six Words. The album is a 9-part suite that is inspiring. Our favorite tracks are “Unity Parts I & II”, “Reach”, “The Long Wait For Justice”, and “Sun Dance”. We also enjoyed “Open Sesame”; a bonus track not listed on the CD jacket!
