O’s Notes: One of the great voices of Manhattan Transfer shines on Sketches of Broadway, a collection of some of the finest show tunes. Janis has all of the versatility needed to not only sing but also shine on these numbers. Listen to “Out of My Dreams” where she opens with richly harmonized vocals (dubbed) and balance that with the vamp “I’ve Got the Sun in the Morning” to realize the extremes. She’s a true balladeer who makes music magical for the listener. Among the songs we liked was “The Surret With The Fringe On Top” from Oklahoma. You’ll enjoy it.
