O’s Notes: Benny plays tenor sax and turns up the heat right out of the gate on “Minor City”. That spirit is bountiful and shared by drummer Steve Langone, Jim Rotondi on trumpet, guitarist Mike Mele, bassist Todd Baker and pianist Joe Barbato. All of that energy is combined in a festive, jovial set that coming five Sharoni originals with three classic bop tunes. Even when the pace is rapid, the feeling is warm as on “Subterranean Samba” as the band goes beyond displaying techniques to making music!
