O’s Notes: Matt Shulman combines his trumpet, vocals and electronics with traditional jazz. His arrangements definitely bring the music into the 21st century with a unique style. Matt Clohesy (b) and Jason Wildman (d) round out the trio. They put a dark veil on “My Funny Valentine” before stepping up the pace on “Truckin'” and then mellowing out on “It Could Happen To You”, our favorite of the set. Shulman gets high marks for creativity.
