O’s Notes: This is truly the Carmen Lundy show as she writes, performs, produces, and arranges all of the music here. The exception of the dozen tracks is her cover of the traditional “America The Beautiful”. Otherwise Carmen is playing piano, bass, drums, percussion and singing her music! We enjoyed “Fire In The Rhythm”, “Requiem For Kathryn” and “Show Me A Sign” in a strong introspective program. Lundy really shines on the microphone expressing herself with words, scats and chants always with emotion and harmonious tones. She delivers warm music allowing space for each of the elements to surface. While she is an accomplished and complete musician, we enjoy the interaction of different minds even more so. That said Solamente is a strong CD.
