O’s Notes: Royce Campbell is one of the best jazz solo guitarists on the scene today. This tribute to Wes Montgomery is unique as a solo effort and Royce does a fine job with the chord melodies and arrangements. Among the best songs are Montgomery’s “Road Song” and “Four On Six”. There are also some classic standards like “Body and Soul” and “Round Midnight”. But this session is more than a tribute; it is a fine collection of easy listening music. It will work around the campfire, on a lazy afternoon or as suitable background for many occasions.
