O’s Notes: Composer Ben Bierman plays trumpet, piano, guitars and bass making him almost a one-man show! But he enlists the support of several other fine musicians for“Some Takes On The Blues, an upbeat collection that serves up the blues from many angles. There’s a bluegrass swagger on “Carmel Meets Shrader” featuring guitarist Andy Reiss. We enjoyed the cool club-blues with drummer Terry Silverlight on “Pretty Blues” and the savory southern “Valeria Street Blues” with Reiss and Silverlight. Emanuel Bierman adds cajón on “Let’s Chill One”. The nine tracks add up to a satisfactory set!
