O’s Notes: Trumpeter and composer Tom Harrell takes the stage with Ambrose Akinmusire (t), Charles Altria (g) Ugonna Okegwo (b) and Jonathan Blake (d) for Something Gold, Something Blue. Harrell composed all of the tunes except a warm cover of “Body and Soul”. The music is mellow and approachable regardless of tempo. Guest Omer Avital plays oud on “Delta of the Nile” imparting an exotic, old world feel. There are some blues and a lot of gold in Harrell’s repertoire!
