O’s Notes: Bassist Fred Randolph leads a contemporary Latin ensemble with several different looks. The music is soothing and immediately embraceable. The sweet brass shines throughout the set featuring Erik Jekabsen (t, flugelhorn), Rob Roth (ts) and Alex Murzyn (ts, ss, fl). Matt Clark handles most of the piano duty as does drummer Greg Wyser-Pratte and percussionist Brian Rice. Matthew Heulitt adds guitar on two selections and Sandy Cressman provides vocalese on “Pelo Mar” one of our favorite selections in a winning set.
