O’s Notes: This is another of the strong vocalists recording on the Dutch label, Jazz ‘N Pulz. Deborah sings in front of a trio including arranger Joris Teepe (b), George Colligan (p) and Gene Jackson (d). They are all strong players, which becomes very apparent by the third track, “Emily” with Brown soaring and the band holding a solid tight rhythm. That seems to inspire Deborah as she takes her performance up another notch from there, bending notes and singing from the soul, especially on “Gee Baby, Ain’t I Good To You”. Just sit back, relax and listen.
