O’s Notes: Romance is in the air for these dozen standards. By the end of the first track you will recognize these are special arrangements. Her accompaniment includes warm tenor sax from three of the best in the business, Boots Randolph, Ed Calle and Kirk Whalum. That lineup is enticing and Bennett is smart to allow each of them to share the stage. The results are impressive especially their transformation of “My Funny Valentine” and the sultry “Since I Fell For You” that included wailing and sax harmonies from all three saxophonists. Combining Sylvia with brass is a work of art.
