O’s Notes: Bassist Jakob Dreyer assembles a quartet with Jason Rigby on sax, Jon Cowherd on piano, and Jimmy MacBride on drums. This is a strong team performing well on Songs Hymns & Ballads. Rigby is passionate on “Gothamburg” with cool solos from Dryer and Cowherd, a fine example of the strength of the program. All of the music is written by Dreyer highlighted by “Epistemology”, “J-Song” and “Kaspar”.
