O’s Notes: Grady has the recipe for smooth R&B jazz and he executes well on Sophistication. There are eleven songs written all or in part by Nichols and producer Jeff Lorber. As we anticipated, Jeff has also added his funky music to the mix. This is most notable on songs like “Behind The Scenes”. The set serves well as an inoffensive backdrop suitable for many occasions.
