O’s Notes: Bassist Tarry leads a quintet including Kelly Jefferson (sax), Jon Cowherd (p), Pete McCann (g) and Dan Weiss (d). They open with “The There Was One”, a fusion cut with Kelly leading the melody. The balance shifts on “Yeah Guys” with all of the band members getting into the mix. Leah Siegel adds vocals on “Vienna In The Spring”, the first of several songs that are more Pop/Jazz than fusion. Our favorites were the solitude of “For The Quiet Heart” and the syncopated energy of “Wind-Up Bird”.
