O’s Notes: Steve plays sax but this is much more than just sweet jazz sax and certainly not another smooth sax outing. He invites vocalists Carla Cook, Philip Manuel and René Marie to join the party. Additional musicians include Bruce Barth (p), Paul Bollenback (g) and Billy Kilson (d). Among the 13 tracks we liked “Wish You Were Here”, the funky “Third World Revolution” and “Respect Yourself” (Manual), the jazzy instrumental version of “Reasons”, “Wishful Thinking” and “Carla’s Gospel” (Cook).
