O’s Notes: Guitarist Greg Skaff assembles a tight quartet to perform his music“in a high-energy set.““Accompaniment is Pat Bianchi on the B3 and Fima Ephron playing bass with Jonathan Barber and Charley Drayton splitting drum duties. They start off with the slow funky groove of “Conjure” before Skaff and Bianchi take it up a notch with powerful, edgy blues on “Genmaicha”. From there they engage“in rockin’ jazz-fusion that dominates the session. We like the energy and the well coordinated vibe on“Soulmation“making for engaged listening, especially while driving, walking or just bobbing your tail. This is Skaff’s 4th release on Zoho and he continues building on a solid foundation.
