O’s Notes: Karcius plays a blend of progressive rock and jazz-fusion. The quartet is composed of Simon L’Espérance (g), Thomas Brodeur (d), Dominique Blouin (b) and Mingan Sauriol (p). They wrote all of the tunes and vary the pace from racy to soothing. We favored Kaleidoscope and the relaxed blues of “Hypothése B” and “Maintenant”. “Back to Earth” caught our attention on Sphere but most of the songs on that CD lean towards the rock side with Simon having a more dominant role. They are able to tailor their sound to either popular or contemporary fusion audiences.
