O’s Notes: Halie sings a country and western style, bending notes but maintaining tonal accuracy all the way through these fifteen jazz classics. We enjoyed her approach, a collection of live performances recorded in Oregon and Japan to enthusiastic audiences. The spontaneity of the live recordings makes Stages special. Of note are “The Girl From Ipanema”, “Cry Me A River” and “Summertime” including nice work by pianist Matt Treder.
